Shea butter or Shea butter Nilotica?
The well-known Shea butter is made from the nuts of the Shea tree Ghana (West Africa) won. A hard butter that melts through your skin and becomes spreadable.
Shea butter Nilotica is a rarer nut and is extracted from the nuts of the Shea tree in Uganda (East Africa). The Nilotica contains up to a quarter more Olein than regular Shea Butter and slightly less 'hard' fats.
Just useful to know
- Shea butter is best stored at room temperature. During the winter you can 'warm up' it between your legs.Keeps the Shea butter cool in the summer, because it has a melting point of about 30 degrees.
- New to you using Shea butter? Take a 'lick' from the jar & soften it between your hands, then spread!
Allergy
Shea Butter is generally safe to use. Our allergist advises people with nut allergies to rub a small part of the skin beforehand to test for a possible allergic reaction.
